Event - School Council at the Houses of Parliament
19 September 2019
A group of KS2 children were chosen to represent our school on a visit to the Houses of Parliament. This was a wonderful opportunity to learn about the country’s governance and laws are made and debated.
As parliament was in recess, the children were allowed into the House of Lords and House of Commons chambers where they discussed the different debates that could happen.
Following on from our tour, we took part in a workshop called ‘Journey to democracy’. During the workshop, we looked at four leaders; King John, William and Mary, David Lloyd George and Boris Johnson. We discussed how laws have changed and looked at major changes each leader made.
We had a fantastic time looking into the history of Parliament and viewing some of London’s popular scenery.
