Event - Year 6 'Adopt' Reception Children

23 September 2011

This year’s Reception class are settling in well during their first weeks at Saint Anne’s School. They have made new friends within their own year group and also with the oldest members of our school, Year 6.

The Year 6 children 'adopted' a Reception pupil to help them with the transition from nursery school to 'big school'.

The two classes spent several afternoons together getting to know each other. They asked each other questions to find out about their favourite foods, games and hobbies. This gave both year groups valuable learning opportunities in speaking and listening, showing respect and co-operation.

The experience gave the Reception children a little more confidence for when they met the rest of the children in their first Assembly on Friday 23rd September.

Well done Year 6 and Reception!
